We are proud to announce that we have secured a grant of £15,000 from the Coronavirus Community Fund from Two Ridings Community Foundation to deliver Youth Work in Ripon.
We are pleased to be working closely with Inspire Youth and the Children and Families Team at NYCC to develop our plans. If you want to be involved please get in touch. We will be looking for volunteers to support the project and will perhaps recruit some session workers. Please complete our survey for young people or parents, so we can respond to and make this project a success. Survey for Young People and Parents ![]() We know that lockdown and uncertainty around Coronavirus has had a significant impact on the mental health of young people. Young people in Ripon are reporting that their top 2 concerns are their uncertain future and mental health worries. These courses will explore the most common mental health concerns faced by young people today, and provide resources and information on how to support individuals experiencing poor mental health. The sessions are ideal for parents or those who work with young people, however all community members are welcome. These basic sessions will last around 2 hours with an opportunity for discussions to take place afterwards with the YMCA staff and attendees.
Our course will cover the following areas:
Monday 5th October - 1:30 pm start Monday 12th October - 10 am start Monday 19th October - 5:30 pm start All sessions will be held at Ripon Community House. Please note due to restrictions of the building there is no lift available and you will be required to access the training up a flight of stairs. We will be sharing some Covid Secure guidelines closer to the course dates. These are likely to include the use of face masks when moving around the buildings. We will have basic refreshments available. To book a place please e-mail [email protected] with your preferred date, your name and a contact number. ![]() We work in partnership with a number of organisation as part of the Young Peoples Pathway for Housing. Since March 2020 over 170 young people lived in Pathway placements or YMCA housing in North Yorkshire. This brief report shows some of the things we have done. Please get in contact if you want more details about how we have supported 20 young people through these challenging times. |
