The role: Working with members of the YMCA team this role will ensure that activities are available for tenants and the young people we work with.
By providing practical assistance and engaging in the planning and delivery of activities this role enables the YMCA to deliver more opportunities and build better relationships with those we engage with.
On a weekly basis we have a range of planned sessions and activities. We also respond to individual tenants needs and offer support, a listening ear and signposting where appropriate. We wish to engage positively with all tenants and young people so this means that activities should be positive, meaningful and purposeful. For example: Supporting a tenant to write a CV, through to planning a water fight activity for a summer youth club.
You will be managed by the Housing Operations Manager who will work closely with the Youth Work Team Leader to identify a regular program of activity.
The role requires that the successful candidate be expected to work at least 3 days per week. We can offer this role as 21 to 30 hour post. Teatime work will be required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and Youth Club activity on Tuesday evenings up until 7:45pm. Sessional Youth Support Worker Job title: Session Youth Support Worker Based at: Ripon YMCA or around Ripon Responsible to: Community and Development Manager Hourly rate: £12 to £16 depending on experience / qualifications (enhanced rate due to unsociable hours) Contract: No fixed contract. Hours paid against a timesheet
Purpose of the role: We require flexible team members who can support our activities. In addition to our housing provision we deliver personal and social development courses and Youth Work for young people. Our aim is to provide local young people with a range of support opportunities to reduce barriers to employment, housing, and positive wellbeing. We require a small team of flexible Youth Support Workers to help us develop and provide these services and support our existing provision. This could be: - Supporting our staff and partners to deliver evening youth work sessions (age 11+) - Supporting our school holiday engagement activities - Providing one to one support for a YMCA tenant (aged 16 to 25) - Helping us deliver learning provision for our tenants or local young people - Supporting tenants informally in a group (e.g. Pizza and film session) - Taking a young person to an appointment or out for a coffee
