Volunteering Co-ordinator - Time to Shine Intern.
Contract: 1 year contract – subject to funding Salary: £16257 (The Living Wage) Hours of work: 37 per week Place of work: Ripon YMCA Holidays: 29 days pro rata Closing date: 20th of November 2017 Interview date: 24th of November 2017
This role is not secure until the Rank Foundation confirms the funding. Once the YMCA selection process identifies a successful candidate, YMCA staff and the candidate must be interviewed by the Rank Foundation team. A formal job offer will only be made once the Rank Foundation confirm the funding. The job offer will also be subject to 2 satisfactory references and DBS check.
The opportunity: Ripon YMCA are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable person who wishes to develop their skills, experience and knowledge of the following areas: - Voluntary and Community Sector - Volunteering - Housing - Working with young people
As part of the Time to Shine Program the successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage with other Time to Shine Interns from across the country at events, residential conferences, showcase events and receive mentoring opportunities from the host organisation and Time to Shine Alumni.
The Role: The specific role we require is a Volunteering Co-ordinator. This role has 3 main tasks: - Develop and manage volunteering or work placements for tenants - Develop and manage community volunteering - Develop and manage a buddy scheme supporting tenants at the YMCA
You will receive extensive support to undertake these tasks, with staff who are experienced in these areas. We will work with you to engage with other voluntary organisation to develop systems and processes and to attract volunteers.
The ideal candidate: We would like this internship opportunity to attract a candidate who is organised, motivated and positive about working in a small charity. Someone who has the drive to enhance their career opportunities as a Time to Shine intern. It would be advantageous for the candidate to have experience of volunteering and working in a team.
We don’t require the candidate to have a degree, but they must be able to demonstrate how their skills, experience and knowledge relate to the role, in addition to their future aspirations.
Like any role within a small team the successful candidate will need to engage with the day-to-day work of the charity, adhere to health and safety and responsible working practice.
